Indians 9, Orioles 3

WP: Jake Westbrook (6-9)
LP: Hayden Penn (2-2)

Orioles rookie Hayden Penn couldn't stop the streaking Indians (which sounds funnier than it is), who tagged Penn and four other pitchers for nine runs on 15 hits in a 9-3 rout on Thursday.

From the get-go, Penn was almost constantly pitching with men on base, and the Indians took advantage to the tune of five earned runs in just 3.2 innings. Long reliever James Baldwin replaced Penn in the fourth inning and kept the O's within two runs by pitching 2.1 scoreless innings, but Jorge Julio came in for the seventh inning and got blown up for three runs on three hits while only recording one out.

Perhaps the lone bright spot in the game for the Orioles was Rafael Palmeiro's 2-4, two RBI night at the plate. He is now just eight hits away from reaching 3,000.

Melvin Mora did not play, missing his eighth straight game with a strained hamstring.

The Orioles went 11-15 in June.
