Yankees 12, Orioles 3

WP: Randy Johnson (8-6)
LP: Rodrigo Lopez (7-5)

For the third straight game, an Orioles pitcher got hit hard, made it nearly impossible for the Orioles offense to come back, and made an early exit.

Today's victim: Rodrigo Lopez, who, in his defense, was pitching on three days rest. Lopez gave up 10 runs on 11 hits in 3 innings. However, only five of those runs were earned, as the Orioles normally solid defense made three errors.

The Yankees swept the two game series, and now the Orioles have a day off before a four game set against division-leading Boston, currently three games ahead of the Orioles. Boston plays at Texas tonight at 8:05 p.m.

Rafael Palmeiro sat out this game because he, as is common with lefties, struggles against Randy Johnson.

The lone bright spot in this game for the Orioles was Sammy Sosa going 2-4 with a double, which is twice as many hits as he had in his previous 33 at bats.
