Mets 5, Nationals 3

WP: Tom Glavine (6-7)
LP: Livan Hernandez (12-3)
S: Braden Looper (19)

Livan Hernandez' run of 11 consecutive wins ended yesterday when he gave up five runs on eight hits over seven innings.

Hernandez left the game down 4-3 with none out in the eighth inning after Carlos Beltran hit a leadoff single. Joey Eischen came in and gave up a single to Cliff Floyd, then was immediately replaced by Hector Carrasco. Carrasco got three flyouts, but the first two were deep enough to move Beltran to third and then home, a run that was credited to Hernandez.

The Nats could not come back in the eighth or ninth, as they were shut down by Aaron Heilman and Braden Looper.

A bright spot for the Nationals, though, was that Brad Wilkerson, who had been struggling, went 2-4 with two RBI.

Now Washington will need to win on Thursday afternoon to salvage a four game split with the last place Mets.
